On Friday, 12th May, Years 1 to 10 came together in the Harrow Shanghai’s Lecture Theatre to watch twelve Mastermind finalists compete to become Harrow’s Junior and Senior Mastermind champions. Finalists had previously competed in general knowledge quizzes to win their place in the final.
The nerve-wracking theme tune was playing and the infamous black chair was in position. Laughter filled the room every time each of the finalists slowly turned to the audience, in time with the music! Specialist subjects ranged from Star Wars and Capital Cities to the videogame Overwatch and Beijing’s Famous Landmarks. Those immortal words “I’ve started so I’ll finish” were heard on numerous occasions as the final buzzer went.
For the Pre-Prep School, Coco Tsui came first for Byron by answering eleven questions correctly about Roald Dahl. In the Prep/Senior School, it was a very close battle between Isaac Chan and Jamie Cook. Jamie Cook pipped Isaac to the post with his mastery of his specialist subject, ‘Hitler’s Rise to Power’, winning the trophy for Churchill.
