The Wider Curriculum

Extra-Curricular Activities

At Harrow Shanghai we are committed to providing an outstanding holistic education that, when paired with outstanding academic provision, gives students the opportunity to shape and mold the excellent young people they will be when they leave us. We believe that Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs) broaden horizons and instil a sense of adventure, leadership, teamwork and decision-making, complementing what goes on in the academic curriculum.

There is a wide and diverse range of activities on offer which cater for every student – whether you are participating in something you have been involved in for years or trying something new for the first time. Our ECA programme runs from Monday to Thursday, between 15:05 and 16:05 (some activities do extend later than this).

The aims of the Extra-Curricular Activities programme at Harrow Shanghai are:

  • To provide a wide range of enjoyable and challenging experiences above and beyond the timetabled curriculum.
  • To allow competitive teams, drama productions and music ensembles to reach high standards of team/group and personal performance.
  • To provide opportunities for students to develop their leadership and social skills through ‘student-led’ ECAs, delivered by some of our senior students.
  • To develop our involvement in community and service programmes, helping disadvantaged groups both locally and nationally.

For further details regarding the ECA programme please contact Mr Daniel Jeffries (djeffries@harrowshanghai.cn).

In addition, there is also a “Saturday Sport’ and ‘Saturday Swim’ programme for our students in Years 3-8. For further details regarding this please contact our Head of PE and Sport, Mr Kit Wapshott (kwapshott@harrowshanghai.cn).
