Mr Jim Hawkins, Head Master of Harrow UK, spent an afternoon at Harrow Shanghai on Friday, 25th August, meeting pupils and staff. As he toured the campus, he was very complimentary about the atmosphere around the school. His assembly to the Prep and Senior pupils talk centred on the three great Old Harrovians, and a family of Old Harrovians, who have given their names to our four Houses. Of them all, he has a particular admiration for Lord Shaftesbury, who, in his care and concern for others, the vast majority of them far worse off than himself, has been an important role model as Head Master of Harrow in the UK. There was a real sense in the Lecture Theatre of us all coming together as an integral part of the Harrow community and Harrow UK felt a great deal closer after he left.
We hope very much that Mr Hawkins can be the guest of honour for the Churchill Songs Speech Day in June.
