Our Harrovians have participated in an exciting array of Chinese cultural activities and festive concerts to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year! Our staff and pupils dressed in traditional Chinese outfits for the occasional – a spectacular display of xx to welcome the year of the Tiger!
Early Years Catwalk
Our Early Years corridor was brimming with excitement and enthusiasm, as our youngest Harrovians proudly tackled the runway in a Chinese costume parade. They were welcomed and cheered by an enthusiastic Year One audience. Festive attire, beautiful tiger lanterns – older children (dragon formations).
After the parade, our pupils participated in a variety of Chinese arts and crafts activities to celebrate their heritage.
Chinese New Year Celebrations
The celebrations started with a lively dragon dance and other traditional Chinese performances which wowed the excited children.
Beautiful music then filled the hall as our Pre-Prep and Upper School pupils presented a stunning array of Chinese melodies to welcome the most celebrated holiday of the year. Anny Z. and Anney W. performed moving guzheng solos, Year 4 enthusiastically welcomed the New Year with Chinese drums, and the concert peaked with the mass choirs and orchestra performing “My future is not a dream.”
Students then had the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of Chinese New Year cultural activities, including many delicious food stalls organised by Friends of Harrow, through our wonderful parent reps and other helpful families.
Warmest wishes from our Harrow family to your family –– enjoy the time together and we look forward to seeing you soon in the Year of the Tiger!
