Harrow Shanghai had an exciting week of expeditions at the end of April with Years 1 to 3 staying over at the school campus and Years 5 to 10 going to Nanbeihu for two nights.
Expeditions are an essential part of a Harrow Shanghai education. The Expedition Programme of Harrow Shanghai aims at providing our students with a wide range of stimulating and diverse experiences, all in a safe, if sometimes challenging, environment. In this way our students are enticed out of their comfort zones and encouraged to push themselves, question, work with others and make responsible choices.
The students in Years 1, 2 and 3 enjoyed a very exciting ‘sleepover’ at the school. Years 1 and 2 snuggled down in the Alcock Room and Year 3 pitched tents and camped in the school grounds. All classes enjoyed a range of activities including a highly exciting treasure hunt by torchlight, bedtime stories and a sumptuous barbecue. For many of Harrow’s students this was the very first time they had been away from their parents for a full night on their own!
The Students in Year 5 and the Prep and Senior School enjoyed a three day expedition to Nanbeihu, Anji, Zhejiang. It involved a night in a hotel, followed by a night in a tent on a secure campsite. There was a comprehensive programme of activities including rock climbing, shelter-building, archery, high ropes, the Leap of Faith and orienteering.
