It is an exciting time for Harrow Shanghai as we welcome our new incoming Head Master, Mr Alex Reed.
Although it is always sad to say farewell, we are delighted that Mr Ellison will continue his own journey within the Harrow family as he moves to his Group-wide role as Director of Quality and Standards, supporting the strategic development of all the Harrow Schools across Asia. Thankfully, we can look forward to seeing Mr Ellison regularly during his future visits to the school as he continues to support Mr Reed and the Senior Leadership Team as they continue to provide an outstanding education for all our Harrovians.
Mr Reed’s appointment as Head Master was confirmed following a rigorous and extensive recruitment process conducted by the Board of Governors. From the outset, Mr Reed was the outstanding candidate, with proven experience and impact as a Head, obviously strong leadership capabilities and a natural affinity for Harrow. He is ideally placed to guide the school during the next chapter of its exciting development.
A very thorough handover process has been conducted between Mr Ellison and Mr Reed over the past months, in addition to helpful conversations being held remotely between Mr Reed and many staff and pupils. Mr Reed has also been involved in the panel of interviewers during the recent recruitment of new teachers for August 2023 and was delighted by the very high quality of the candidates appointed. Harrow Shanghai’s formidable reputation for having the very best teachers in Shanghai is set to be reinforced further.
Under Mr Ellison’s leadership, Harrow Shanghai has become a top-tier, world leading international school achieving remarkable public examination results and outstanding university placements, with an extensive increase in the offer of opportunities and activities for all our young Harrovians outside of the classroom. The school has an enviable reputation for its sense of community, togetherness, care and compassion. All of this will provide an excellent bedrock on which Mr Reed can further build excellence in all that Harrow Shanghai sets out to do.
Mr Reed is eager to immerse himself within the community immediately on arrival and will be meeting with parents and pupils, as well as all staff, as soon as the Spring Term gets underway. Let the next chapter begin!
