Harrow Shanghai is delighted to announce the launch of its new Early Years offering from this August – Harrow Cubs. For some time parents present and new have enquired whether we might consider the creation of an extra Pre-Nursery class which allows entry earlier for children aged 18 months to 2 years.
And so in partnership with our wide-ranging Early Years experts across the Harrow family we have developed a market leading foundation year experience for our youngest Harrovians which will accelerate their learning and development in readiness to enter into the usual Pre-Nursery setting at age 2 to 3 years. Children can enroll into Harrow Cubs as soon as they reach 18 months, at any time in the academic year.
The new programme will provide a head-start on the road to achieving the UK Early Years Learning Goals for the children involved, providing the very best foundation for future academic success and personal development in the years beyond. The experience focuses on 7 key learning elements:
- An understanding and use of English
- Numeracy
- Social and emotional development
- Physical development
- An understanding of Mandarin
- An understanding of the world around them
- Engagement with art and creative expression
Led by a dedicated and highly-experienced UK Early Years specialist teacher – aided further by caring learning support assistants – our Harrow Cubs will have their very own designated and fully-resourced classroom within our Early Years Centre. With ‘free-flow’ movement to the outdoor learning zones, our Cubs will be constantly developing their newly discovered knowledge, skills and talents both indoors and outside. They will also experience regular music, physical education, swimming, specialist Mandarin and much more.
